JAMES HOTEL

SPF:a is serving as executive architect on a 200-room boutique hotel in West Hollywood, on behalf of Design Architect, Enrique Norten of Ten Arquitectos. Soft white concrete fiber panels will clad the cubic structure, whose indoor lobby is perforated by an open air courtyard at the center of the building. A public grand stair and circulation space (called “the spiral”) sensually wraps around the outer facade, first across the hotel’s Sunset Boulevard face, escalating clockwise, traversing the hotel’s 3rd floor pool deck, and reaching its ultimate destination on Hammond Street. Designated as a high rise the building will rise six stories from Sunset, and will have three levels of below-grade parking, plus a level of belowgrade event space. Average guest rooms will be 355 SF, and the hotel will feature conference facilities, two restaurants, and a lounge.
