MODAA GALLERY exhibit: CHUCK ARNOLDI & CHERYL EKSTROM

SPF:a hosted a world-class exhibition in the gallery this summer, featuring Chuck Arnoldi’s private collection of large format acrylic on canvas paintings. Sculptor Cheryl Ekstrom simultaneously featured several pieces from her new collection, “Stable Inhabitants of a Changing World,” cast steel replicas of mid-century modern furniture icons. About 300 guests came out to meet the artists on June 15th at the show’s official artist reception, where KCRW Art Critic, Edward Goldman offered the party an extended “Art Talk” segment about his recent trip to Israel, contemplating the relationship between art and architecture.

HOLY MODAA, BATMAN!

MODAA introduced the work of Harald Belker to the LA design crowd in August, a group who perhaps knew the book but not the author. Designer of such iconic transportation pieces as the Batmobile and the illustrious vehicles and track system featured in Spielberg’s Minority Report, Harald received a proper introduction from MODAA at the August 15th reception. Exhibits included projections of Belker’s 12 movie-related designs, his new line of furniture prototypes, e-Bike design samples made for Lee Iacocca, a line of HotWheels cars designed for Mattel, and product designs Belker has done for companies like Kaenon Sunglasses. About 300 people turned out for the designer reception.
